I guess I must make the traditional so here's my class entry.

Legend
Period: Class Code - Class Name (Teahcer)
My Comment

Period 1: H7V - American Government (Ms. Feldman)
Great. Just Great.  First teacher I see when I get to school = Feldman. WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS??????!!!!!!!!!!  She starts the class off by saying how fair she is.  Geee, I wonder why the class started laughing.  Last term, she failed half of her class, even thouhg they had ~90 test average.  GRRRR

Period 2: SPED - Engineering Dynamics (Ms. Nolen)
Yay :)  A good class.  But of course, something has to ruin the day.  Wayne and Anant was supposed to have the class too, but they're not in my class!!  Sigh, I guess I can still manage.  Engineering should be cool, and Ms. Nolen is cool, so I should be able to survive.

Period 3: UDSB - Symphonic Band (Dr. Wheeler)
Band as always.  I'm going to try my best to practice hard and be able to play every note on the music.

Peirod 4: free period
Again, it should be a good thing, but....

Period 5: H8XA - AP Macroeconomics (Ms. Schweitzer)
Noo, what happened to Ms. Bushman???!!!  Now I'm gonna have a test every other week, alternating between essay types and regular types.  AND SHE GAVE REAL HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT ON THE FRIST DAY!!!  ARGGGGG

Period 6: MAD - Differential Equations (Dr. Chen)
Well... it's not that bad, I guess.  I'm still thinking of dropping differential equations altogether though.  I'm not gonna get college credit, I'm not gonna understand Dr. Chen, and if I ask him a question he'll just be like "you suck, go read the textbook."  (no, he doesn't really say "you suck," but he does imply it; that guy's really full of himself)

Period 7: ZTXT - Lunch (TXTBK DELQ)
Textbook delinquent MY ASS!  I spent such a long time just trying to return/pay for my textbook and they tell me I'm delinquent??  Bull f*cking $hit!  And what's this lunch period doing in the middle of my classes?  A free 4th period and a lunch during 7th?  WTF is this?  Can't they at least give me a back to back free period?  Stupid program office.....

Period 8: E8SF - Science Fiction and Fantasy (Mr. Bonsignore)
It seems like an interesting English class.  Mr. Bonsignore seems all right, and people who had him last term had some pretty positive feedbacks.  I do have to finally do some real English work though.  After my sophomore year, Mr. Gern scared me so much that I was afraid to take a real English class until grades no longer mattered.  I hope I won't regret taking a real English class this term.

Period 9 + 10: SPX4 - AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism (Mr. Thomas)
NO! NO! NOOOO!!!  I WANT MR. DREYFUS BACK!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!  Ahhhhh!!!  I used to look forward to physics just because of Mr. Dreyfus!  Now I'm stuck with some guy who thinks the weak force is stronger than the electromagnetic force.  Why the hell is teaching physics C if he doesn't even know which forces are stronger?  Proof?  Here it is: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/forces/funfor.html.  As it said, if we take the strength of the strong force to be 1, then the electromagnetic force is 1/137, the weak force is 10^-6, and the force of gravity is 6 × 10^-39.  I don't know about you, but 1/137 is more than one THOUSAND times greater than 10^-6.  What the hell is this guy thinking?  Sigh, I guess the "ph" in physics stands for "phun" no longer :( *sob*

Period 11: FJ8 - Japanese (Helinski sensei)
A college now class that meets 2 days a week for 90 minutes each.  There's nothing much to say.

As conclusion, I HATE MY SCHEDULE!  I need to:
1.  get the hell OUT of Feldman's class
2.  get the hell OUT of Schweitzer's class and get IN to Bushman's class!
3.  sigh, unfortunately, Mr. Dreyfus teaches physics C 2nd and 3rd periods, and I have to have band 3rd period. *tears* bye bye to "The ph in physics stands for phun!"

Thursday, September 08, 2005

Well, since it's the first day of schoo, I'll make the traditional so here's my class entry.

Legend
Period: Class Code - Class Name (Teahcer)
My Comment

Period 1: <blank> - Free Period (No Teacher)
Pleaes see above..

Period 2: E7SL - Shakespearean Literature (Mr. Mott)
Okay, so I took the cheap way out; I took this class because Mott teaches it.  Well, I guess I'll make it up by taking a real English class next term when my grades won't determine my life.

Period 3:  UDSB - Symphonic Band (Dr. Wheeler)
Wow, I'm in symphonic!  It's good to see Yilong again, after having period 3 - 9 with him during first term sophomore year to none last term.  The baritones (that's what I play) really sucked in Intermediate Band last term, but so I'm looking forward to be in a class that has people who can actually play baritones.

Period 4: ZTXT - Lunch (TXTBK DELQ)
For all those non-Stuy people, Mr. Wong usually puts something stupid in the teacher's name section for lunch.  I owe 2 books, one of which I actually lost (shame on me...), but that book's only about $20.  The other "book" is a Ti-83+ graphing calculator, which I need another year, because Texas Instrument stole my Ti-83+ Silver Edition.  It's a long story...

Period 5: H8XI - Micro Economics (Ms. Bushman)
I heard from John that she's easy.  Well, I have yet to see about that.  I don't know much about her, so I can't say too much.

Period 6: MAC - Multivariable Calculus (Mr. Chen)
Wow, so this is Mr. Chen, the one who teaches Precalculus and Multivariable Calculus, and, as rumor has it, "cannot speak English."  Anyway, that's the rumor, but I think his English is not bad at all, I mean... I can understand him perfectly, but then, I am much more acquainted with Chinglish than many other people.  Also, I have to say, he seems like a genius, much like Dr. Li.  I heard he also gives a "review" that basically gives away the test.  Well, as long as I learn multivariable calculus, I'm okay with that :)

Period 7: TTD5 - Technical / Scientific Illustration (Mr. Rothenberg)
So I guess I'm not going to escape the wrath of drafting after all...  But hey, as my dad said, "If you want to engineering, you better get yourself to like drafting; engineers do that all the time."  So I guess, since I do want to become a engineer at this point (may change later), this course should be good for me.  In addition, I hope this satisfies University of Michigan Engineering College's "pre-engineering course."

Period 8: P$7X - Kickboxing (Ms. McCaffrey)
Man, oh man, after a speech from Ms. McCaffrey today, I'm wondering God or whoever is out there purposely put me into this class because He (or She, I won't be sexist here) wanted me to work out.  Well, I guess this should be good for me too..... should...

Period 9 and 10: SPX3 - Physics C (Mr. Dreyfus)
When I saw the program, the first thing I looked for was, Did I get Mr. Dreyfus for physics C? Well, I guess I got my wish... but then... when I entered my class, someone caught my attention: Sho.  Then I looked around him, and I saw Hooyoung.  Then I looked around the room, and I saw geniuses all over the place... So okay, now I'm scared.  I will try my best in this course, and accept whatever I get.  I hope that doesn't mean a 55...

Period 11: FJ7 - Japanese (Helinski sensei)
Or... it should be FJ7.. but it isn't.  See, fourth year Japanese class is now a "College Now" course, meaning that we meet twice a week, 90 minutes each.  Sensei decided to meet on Mondays and Thursday, so I guess I'll be home late on those days.  But first thing's first: I gotta get FJ7 on my schedule.

So okay, that's my schedule.

Monday, May 23, 2005

goddamn it, why does the SAT have to ruin my life the way it does??  Today was a pretty nice day; the induction ceremony rehearsal for Arista was okay, and then we had some fun in the office.  I gotta say, I hope we the Excesutive Memebers of Arista could get more serious by next year, or Arista is gonna be an even more bs society than it is now.  So yeah, day was going fine, and then... FUCK SAT score comes.  Goddamn SAT.. freaking stoners in Stuy get higher than me.  why does the college care about it so much?  Do they really think freaking stoners are more suited for good colleges me?

Friday, May 20, 2005

I should probably start off the entry thanking everyone who has voted for me for VP of tutoring for Arista.  I will keep all the campaign promises I have made.  Also I would like to thank everyone who looked at my speech and gave me tips.  I appreciate it very much; and I owe the result of the election to you.

Okay, now the real stuff...

"So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause . . "
--Padmé Amadala from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

I just watched the movie today, and I must say, although I know some people thought it was just another Star Wars crap, I thought it was amazing.  The quote from Padmé during Chancellor Palpatine's speech made me think of the one of themes of the movie: democracy become empire over time, empire crumbles under rebellion, the rebels restore democracy, which crumbles again.  All we need is a leader like Palpatine; a leader who can totally rally everyone up, make everyone give thunderous applaus to whatever he says.

Then, I think of the society that I live in today.  9/11 hits us, Bush declares "war on terrorists," a war that can potentially go on forever (after all, how do we win the war on terrorists; what is winning??), and then he declares war on Iraq, his reason being that Sadam Hussein possess "weapons of mass destruction" so he is a "threat to our world."

This greatly parallels the movie: Chancellor Palpatine starts an everlasting war, claiming that the war bring peace to the world.  Yet, as the movie unfolds, we find Palpatine's alter ego, and the destruction he has brough through the use of a never ending war.

Could this be the fate of the United States?  Is this what our "founding fathers" have fought for?  Is this what everything must come to?  Well here's one cheerful thought: if this is what America is to become, it will take some time before we become an empire.  Yes, Bush is has declared a potentially everlasting war, he has declared war on the name of "freedom," but there is one fundamental difference between Bush and Palpatine -- Bush is not as competent, and, although I don't like him he is not evil; I believe that he does truly believe that he is waging the war for the "good of the people."  Also, Bush cannot rally the people up like Palpatine, there are people like us who hate him enough to keep his powers in check.

So maybe there is a hope for the world after all.  But I'm not Yoda; I can't sense the future.  So let's just wait; patience is a virtue....
